Our with the old, in with the new

Since August, I have been thinking about having a yard sale to get rid of tons of clothes that I just knew I would never wear again. There weather got colder and my yard sale never happened. Now I have a large suitcase and bags of clothes that will never see the light of day again. Or so I thought. I pondered about it and decided to keep a few things.

As 2010 comes to an end, we must brace ourselves for new goals, resolutions, changes and the unknown. But what we do know is FASHION.

Out with the Autumn/Winter 2010 trends
&
In with the new Spring/Summer 2011 trends.

But wait - before you completely revamp and update your wardrobe by chucking items that no longer appeal to the season, remember that those trends WILL be back and you don't want to be one of those women saying,
"I wish I would have kept that ___."

So keep it.

Remember that trends work in cycles. They are meant to keep you engaged for six months and once you've finally mastered and incorporated everything that you possibly could, the trend changes like *snaps finger* that. Now, you're back to purchasing more items to be current with the trend (and weather). This cycle occurs for two reasons: one is women's desire to be current, trendy and beautiful and the other is businesses' desire to increase revenue. The fashion industry manipulates women (who consider themselves fashionable) into keeping their wardrobes relevant by implementing new trends. By making women feel as though their wardrobes are "uncool", many conform and shop away and businesses make loads of money. And so every six months, this happens: new trends are created, women feel that their wardrobes are outdated, they shop and businesses make more money. So before you throw those wide leg jeans away, keep 'em and pull 'em out when the trend reoccurs.

It would be as if you were one step ahead of the game!
