Dior's Spring 2011 collection is EVERY bit of elegance, grace, class, distinction and attitude that I could even imagine! Even more recently, most people have been disabled by the current economic crisis. The most mundane tasks such as eating and living have become even harder to accomplish. As a result, fashion is probably the last thing on most peoples' mind. For me, I have been thrifting for quite sometime in search of chic (and reasonbly priced) items so that I can still be chic, eat, and LIVE.
Anywho, this collection really struck and reminded me of the iconic 1940s fashion where extremely narrow and exaggerated waists were emphasized, natural, flowing, brown curls and very minimal makeup. There was a very rich and regal quality of this era in which I wish we could revert to.
Sorry for all of the Golden Globe hubbub but I really enjoyed this year's ceremony - despite a few uncomfortable, yet to-be-expected remarks by host Ricky Gervais. This year, emerald green stole the red carpet and it looked AMAZING. In the art world, red and green are complementary colors so they naturally work really well together. In my opinion, green is a great choice to stand out on a red carpet which is probably why these ladies were ranked amongst the most memorable of the evening.
Of them all, Catherine Zeta-Jones' dress had to be my absolute favorite of them all. I loved all of the layers, the texture of the fabric and the shade of emerald green paired with her earrings and simple, yet clean, pulled back hair.
I'm super excited that the weather is about to become warmer. I'm very much a spring/summer/fall (before it gets too cold) kinda gal and warm weather equals less layers and more playtime with my wardrobe.
This Spring's palette will involve color, color and more color; primarily variations in white, orange and blue. This trend has already been seen on the red carpet at this year's Golden Globe Awards.
It's been YEARS since Teairra Mari came out with a single, let alone a video so I was surprised when she came out with this single. Though this isn't my first time seeing it, I wanted to blog about the message in this video. Lyrically, of course it sounds like she has a man who would provide anything she needed. Now when the video came out, I wasn't surprised that it was filled with big labels like Louis Vuitton, lavish cars, and her SPONSOR. However, they included a great twist at the end in which I was really pleased with. It said so much about female independence and empowerment (though it was . I'm not going to spoil the end if you haven't seen the video. So watch it here!
Rihanna's pretty much a household name and if you haven't heard of her, you MUST be living under a rock.
This video, I like love it so so much but this comes from a Rihanna fanatic - well, not the fanatic that knows every lyric to her song, follows her on gossip sites, has every photo that's been snapped of her, paints my nails like hers or anything like that. But to be frank, I just think she's GORGEOUS. It just seems that EVERYTHING goes with her buttery, smooth skin and this video screams volumes to me. It takes me back to the puppy love, carefree life most of us once had.
Bottom line. She's IT.
Oh and the blazer in her video, I have been SEARCHING for one just like it. I haven't been having the best of luck but this video has kept me motivated to search for it.
I've never been much of a jeans gal and though it's really cold outside, I still can't give up my shorts, skirts and dresses. Socks are becoming this huge trend and I am elated that I can still be fashionable and warm.
I am a frequent Facebooker and I have one friend that never ceases to amaze me.
